Details

I encourage folks to attend and provide me feedback. If members enjoy his presentation, I will work with Mark to provide exclusive events just for our group in the future. You can also view his website HERE.

Mark Phillips, the entertaining and innovative wine expert and host of the most-watched wine show ever broadcast by PBS, Enjoying Wine with Mark Phillips, will present his Progressive approach to wine as he demonstrates a fresh new way - a fun, non-snobby way to enjoy wine. Whether you're new to wine or have been drinking it for years, you'll see the world of wine with fresh eyes and a new palette.

In his hugely popular wine talks, Mark reveals little-known secrets and debunks long-held myths and mysteries about wine as he addresses topics like freezing and microwaving wine; the reason conventional wine ratings are so silly; why buying expensive wines is often a waste of money; what one ingredient makes wine and food pairings work; and so much more.

Be there for the Chicago debut of the seriously funny and decidedly non-snobby wine expert who's won millions of fans around the country, and don't miss your chance to sample some of Mark's favorite wines throughout the evening. Also, experience the wine glass one prominent wine expert calls "the only wine glass that leaves me breathless", the Mark Phillips Wine Glass, available at a discount at this event.

The event will be held at the Stan Mansion. Formerly a Masonic temple, Stan Mansion was designed by architect Moritz F. Stranch and built in 1921. Stan Mansion's own castle-like façade and elegant grounds provide a prime example of the rich authenticity achieved by the city's early architects and designers.

Cheese and bread will be served. Casual attire. Volunteers are needed.

Admission is $40 per person. Tickets must be purchased in advance. Click HERE to go to the Wine Tasting Association website to buy tickets.

If you would like to attend as a volunteer for free, please click HERE for more information.

It was nice finally getting to attend something with this meetup group, but since I haven't met any of you before and this event was actually set up outside of meetup and there were many non-meetup people there, I wasn't able to meet anyone from this group, or at least if I did, I didn't realize I did.

"Mark did a great job sharing his fun, laid back approach to wine!"

"I thought it was very informative, though a different approach than your typical wine tasting (well I say "typical" loosely since I've only been to one other wine tasting where we took a shuttle from one winery to another in Seattle.... but since Mark said this "will not be a wine tasting" and then went on to speak about the wines and let us be on our own to taste the various bottles we had at our table, I would take it to be a different approach than usual. Nonetheless, it was imformative and a great setting for the event."
