We all love to cook and if you're like me, you take pleasure in seeing folks eat and appreciate your meals. Our group has the opportunity to cook for the community by volunteering at a local soup kitchen. I welcome you to join me in preparing a meal at the Good News Community Kitchen.
The Good News Community Kitchen began as a ministry of the Good News Community Church (UCC) in 1983 and began serving meals a few days per week in the "North of Howard" neighborhood of Rogers Park, on the furthest northern border of Chicago. Today, with the help of more than 30 partnering congregations and community organizations, GNCK is the highest capacity community Kitchen in the metropolitan Chicago area and is the only community kitchen that serves a hot nutritious meal 365 days per year.
At this event, we will be working together to prep & serve dinner, along with some light clean up afterwards. It will be a total of 3.5 hours of your time from 3:00pm to 6:30pm. Here is the breakdown of our volunteering time:
3:00pm - 4:30pm -- preparing meals
5:00pm - 6:00pm -- serving dinner
6:00pm - 6:30pm -- clean up
Not only will be doing what we love in the kitchen, we will be giving back to our community to those less fortunate. Your time and talents in the kitchen would be greatly appreciated by so many. Hope you can attend this very special event!

"I had such a blast meeting people from the group and the people we were cooking for. I would definitely go again. Next time I will hopefully get to cook a little more. That was the only bad thing. "
